Excursion to Kolomenskoe
Located on the high right bank of the Moskva - river, in a picturesque natural environment, in ancient times Kolomenskoye was the patrimony of the grand princes, and then the summer residence of the Moscow kings. Not far from Kolomenskoye two and a half thousand years ago, the oldest settlement on the territory of Moscow, the Dyakovo Gorodishche, appeared.
The first written mention of the village of Kolomenskoe refers to the year 1339. The most ancient preserved buildings date back to the 16th century. One of the most strikingly beautiful temples is the Church of the Ascension of our Lord, next to it is the bell tower of St. George and the Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist in the village of Dyakovo. The wooden palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich was recreated in Kolomenskoye.
For his unique look and beauty, it was called "the eighth wonder of the world." The current structure is a life-size model of the palace. In Kolomenskoe you can visit the house of Peter the Great and the Front Gate. Foreign embassies arrived through them, solemn processions passed.
